Prior to being diagnosed in 2024, I was unaware that ovarian cancer was a leading cause of cancer deaths in people with ovaries and is also the deadliest of all gyn cancers - exceeding the combined mortality of cervical and endometrial cancers. 

Sadly, this tracks to the “why” as ovarian cancer research is horrifically underfunded, which is mind blowing as its typically caught late due to not having a reliable method of early detection, coupled with the fact that symptoms can present themselves as common ailments (bloating, fatigue, frequent urination, back pain, etc.) that many brush off.
